Welcome to the Keller Chapter!

The Keller Chapter of the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) is new to the Keller community beginning its first year in the Spring of 2016.

With nearly 90 members, YMSL Keller is part of a nationwide non-profit service organization that enhances the mother/son relationship through community service and leadership.  The young men in the organization are active during their freshman through senior years of high school.

Still in its first year of service, YMSL Keller has logged nearly 2,000 volunteer hours in the DFW community partnering with almost 20 area philanthropies such as The Community Storehouse, Miracle League, Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, Samaritans Purse and more.

Throughout the League year, mothers and sons are required to complete a minimum of 20 approved philanthropy hours, most of which are accomplished together.  In addition, each member must hold a leadership position (there is a variety to choose from) as well as attend monthly meetings.

Mom’s meetings include discussing the business of the League as well as learning from guest speakers such as college recruiters, local charities, etc.  Boys learn life skills, career exploration, leadership and more.  Some favorites include learning simple car maintenance at a local garage and hands-on flying in the Southwest Airlines flight simulator!

Membership in YMSL Keller is an excellent way to foster community involvement, personal growth, caring about others, teamwork and leadership skills.

Applying for Membership

Mothers and sons are eligible to apply for membership to YMSL Keller in the early spring of the young man’s 8th grade year if he will be attending Keller High School as a freshman in the upcoming fall.

The YMSL calendar year begins May 1 and ends April 30.  New member recruitment begins in February.  Mothers and sons must be genuinely interested in philanthropy and leadership as both are required of members!

To inquire about membership, please contact the Membership VP by submitting an email through the “Contact this Local Chapter” button on the sidebar.
